Rev Michael Killoran Ross BSc(Hons) MAppSci PhD was born in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 7th August 1953 and attended St Joseph Composite High School there. Qualifying initially as a Registered General Nurse, he moved to England to study drama and pursue a career in acting. However, he later moved to the University of London to study Psychology where he graduated with a BSc(Hons) in 1989 and then to the University of Glasgow where in 1991 he obtained a Masters degree in Applied Science in Clinical Psychology and where in 1999 he went on to become a Doctor of Philosophy in Behavioural Sciences. Until he retired he was a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the NHS and was Head of Psychological Therapies (Adult Mental Health) for Lanarkshire NHS. Deacon Michael is married (to Mary Keenan Ross) and is the father of two children (Carlo and Giulia).

Michael was ordained a Permanent Deacon in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, East Kilbride, by Rt Rev Joseph Devine, Bishop of Motherwell, on 5th September 2008. Since that time, Deacon Michael has served at St Anthony's Parish, Rutherglen, and then at St Leonard's Parish, East Kilbride.

He joined our parish on Sunday 6 October 2019 and we were very pleased to have him.

Sadly, he didn't stay long. As part of Bishop Toal's reorganisation of Deacons in the Diocese, Deacon Michael was transferred to St Columbkille's in Rutherglen and his last day in our Parish was Sunday 19 September 2021.

We thank Deacon Michael for all he did while in the Parish, and wish him well in his new appointment.
