In 2012, as we approached the first anniversary of the death of our dear friend Sister Sheila Clancy, we continued to fondly remember her long and devoted service to St Bride's, and our intention then became to create a permanent memorial to her twenty-five years in our parish.

Among Sister Sheila's many gifts was a great talent for gardening, and Canon Ryan spoke fondly of her skill in this respect, which he attributed to her being a farmer's daughter! In Spring of 2012, as the growing season commenced, two parishioners came forward to offer to tend what has become known as "Sister Sheila's Garden" around the chapelhouse, and the garden was full of colour all of the following summer. As autumn approached, two trees were gifted in Sister Sheila's memory, and these were blessed in a short ceremony on Sunday 16th September 2012, a year on from her funeral Mass in St Bride's and the thanksgiving Mass in the convent chapel at Rearsby.

Below is a report on this service as it was published in the East Kilbride News, who have kindly given us permission to show this reproduction.
