Sr Sheila’s Tenth Anniversary was on 8 September 2021 - Our Lady’s birthday. Soon afterwards we had a Coffee Morning in the Hall and thanks are due to parishioner Kate Gingell who prepared a slideshow of memories of Our Sister for that occasion. Some of these memories are already listed on our various Sister Sheila pages. So below we show the others, and we hope that you enjoy them.

Parishioner Betty Purdie shared these memories:

Sister Sheila joined the Parish in 1986 when Father John McIntyre was appointed Parish Priest. Father was appointed to Rome in 1988, and when Father Ryan joined us in 1989, Sister Sheila agreed to stay on.
Sister was a great baker and baked for all our functions and coffee mornings. If any group was having visitors and Sister found out, the door would go in the Meeting Room and Sister would appear with a tray of baking. She was also a great organiser, and had the women of the Parish do the catering for some of our functions Over the years, Sister joined us on trips to Lourdes, Poland and Rome, which she greatly enjoyed. Sister was great at getting people to do things like decorating the Christmas Crib and doing flowers, even from Hospital! Sister Sheila is greatly missed.

Parishioner Tom Hendry shared this excerpt from his article Look Around You:

Sister Sheila. What a woman! As Canon Ryan would say, she could answer the back door, front door and telephone all at the same time - while she was cooking the dinner. Sister spent many, many hours in our church building - often early in the morning with no heating on. Parishioners would perhaps notice that when we were fortunate to have Sister there always seemed to be candles lit beside our statues of The Sacred Heart and St Bride. Well, guess who lit them. So how did a petite person like Sister Sheila manage to reach up to position the candle at the statue of The Sacred Heart? She climbed up on the pews! If you look you will see that the pews are more worn beside that statue than elsewhere.

Finally we have the slideshow photographs which were previously not on our website. Please use the controls at the sides to navigate your way through the presentation.
